give this movie 10/10. An horror masterpiece full of tension and suspense. On Christmas Eve, an unknown person goes into the attic of a sorority house. The majority of the sorority sisters of Pi Kappa Sigma are going home while others are staying in the house. Claire Harrison, one of the sisters goes missing. Mr.Harrison tries to know where his daughter is. In the meantime, Jess Bradford is pregnant, and tells her pianist boyfriend, Peter that she wants an abortion. Peter tries to convince her to have the baby. A little girl named Janice is also missing. The terror continues with a series of creepy phone calls targeting Jess. The caller using different voices and personalities to terrorize Jess. Black Christmas is a masterpiece of horror. Lots of horror films were influenced by it. Halloween was heavily influenced by Black Christmas ( using the POV shots, holliday setting, killer killing for unknown reasons). 1) The acting is great and natural. 2) The story has great development. Claire Harrison missing, the little girl (Janice) missing, then discovered killed in the park. Jess wanting an abortion. Peter doesn't like that idea and starts acting weird making him the ideal suspect. The killer hiding in the attic and making creepy phone calls. The idea of tracing the phone calls to conclude the idea that the killer is inside the house. All the storylines are good. And the killer being inside the house is an urban legend and really happened. And makes the pacing of the film amazing. 3) The characters have lots of development and are interesting. Jess is a a very intelligent, independent woman. We see lots of things happening with her. Like i said earlier, she wants an abortion, she searching for Claire. She's getting the creepy phone calls. She thinks it's Peter, and ends up killing at the end because of it. She's most likely dieing at the end. Barb is an interesting character who's funny and dramatic too. Lots of funny moments like the fake sorority address, the turtles. She's a little guilty that Claire is missing too, and yells at her friends. Peter also has good development. We know he's a pianist, that's what he wanted most when he first met Jess. We see him destroying the piano after failing his test. He wants to get married, but Jess wants to do other things. We see him crying at the phone saying they can't kill the baby. Mr.Harrison is also great and a good presence throughout the film. He's searching for Claire and we can feel the pain for him. Mrs. MacHenry is great too. She's the house mother. We spend lots of moments with her. She's a key character, the funniest with Barb. She likes alcohol and all of that. The couple of scenes with her and Mr. Harrison are all very good and funny. Sergeant Nash and lieutenant Fuller have great development too. Billy, the real killer is also interesting. He refers to himself as Billy and mentions lots of time Agnès. He makes the phone calls. We don't know his reasons for killing. He lives in the shadows and we never see his face. 4)The killer is very threatening and creepy (his phone calls, voices, kills, eye at the door's crack). 5) There's a creepy atmosphere. I haven't seen anything in a horror movie matching the intensity of the phone calls. Billy is a constant menace though the movie making the atmosphere unsettling. It's suspenseful and full of tension. 6) The kills are frightening. Claire suffocating and rocking on a chair. Mrs. Mac dieing in the attic. Barb getting killed by the unicorn during the Christmas chants. And we don't see it, but Janice, the little girl being murdered is frightening. Jess, at the end probably dies, as she's unconscious and the killer is still there. That's a frightening ending with our main character dieing. 7) The soundtrack at the beginning of the movie is awesome. It's a Christmas song, but darker giving a creepy atmosphere
